Mt 6: 24-33

"Catholicism without Catholics"

The Lord tells us in today's Gospel we can not serve God and mammon. What riches our Lord speaks? It is anything that absorbs us and we worry too much, to the point that makes us forget God. In this sense, God and riches are incompatible.

God is our ultimate goal. We were born to love and be loved. God is our ultimate goal. If we let ourselves be absorbed by material things, we forget God.

This is because a Christian principle that we have forgotten. How many religious orders that have been corrupted by seeking the riches! They believed that riches were going to help spread the message of Christ; but the reality has been very different. In fact, the teaching of Christ is totally contrary: "When you go to preach, do not bear neither gold nor scrip ..." If we embrace the riches give back to God.

On the other hand, the Christian can not be a friend of this world. As James says, "Adulterers, do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God?" We left the teachings of Christ to embrace the false prophets who all they want is our downfall.

Christ tells us that we have to not worry too much about the things of this world, but the problem today is not too concerned but letting us absorb the things of this world with the consequent rejection of God.

The consequences of this approach are inevitable and logical: the option for wealth leads to the abandonment of God. The abandonment of God leads us to despise; and contempt for apostasy. That is, Christians are not Christians but "anti-Christian".

The universal apostasy is already a punishment from God. Will there be more punishment than having denied Him? Millions of Catholics are no longer Catholics. They have been deceived voluntarily, and as a result are guilty. Thousands of Christians are walking toward hell every day.

By giving back to God, we were without God; and if we were without God, we were without love. Man needs love more oxygen to breathe. Thus, we penitence punishment.

Abandoning God is taking extreme results: invasion of Islam, abortion. Friendship with the world always leads to enmity with God.

The present times are very harsh persecution; more than in the first centuries. But times are also times of persecution of saints, times of hope. "When you see all this happening, lift up your heads, because your redemption".

When I consider this environment of persecution, confusion and betrayal, I feel encouraged by the love of Christ and the desire to meet Him in heaven.
